The history of Continental Event

Hotel Continental opened in 1900 with 30 hotel rooms and Theatercaféen. In 1909, Caroline and Christian Boman Hansen took over the running of the hotel and restaurant, and ever since, the property has been owned and run by the same family.

What is now Continental Event started in 1932, when the hotel was extended with a new building providing 76 new hotel rooms (all ensuite), Dagligstuen lobby bar (now called BAR BOMAN), and a function department. In 1960, the third generation owner, Ellen Brochmann, rebuilt and modernised the hotel with a new building of 8 storeys and 88 new hotel rooms, 2 restaurants and a function room with a capacity for 300 guests (Teatersalen).

Continental Event has been through several major renovations since then, with the largest and most extensive carried out by the fourth-generation owner, Elisabeth C. Brochmann, in 2011 and 2014. The 12 meeting and function venues on the first and second floors now provide an exclusive events department in a classic contemporary style with a unique art collection, high standards and stunning chandeliers.
